Membership Requirements
Dear Colleague,
Thank you for your interest in a membership of the Club Jules Gonin.
As our Club has a limited number of members, admission is dependent upon retirement of active members. An applicant for membership is required to fulfil the conditions set out in the Bylaws before membership can be recommended to the General Assembly by the Executive Committee:
1. In order to become a candidate for membership, the applicant must:
- send his/her CV with three endorsements from members of the Club to the Secretariat. The documents must be received by May 1st of the year in-between congresses (odd number year),
- have at least 5 recent publications in vitreoretinal subjects in Medline listed journals with senior authorship (1st, 2nd or last author) during the past 10 years,
- after acceptance of the candidacy by the Executive Committee, give at least one oral presentation at a Club Meeting within 4 years.
The applicant, once accepted as a candidate, will be automatically invited to participate in the meetings of the Club Jules Gonin taking place during the 4 year period of the candidacy. By participating in meetings, the candidate can become acquainted with the Club, and the members will have a chance to get to know the candidate.
If a paper or a poster is cancelled by the candidate, it will not count towards eligibility for membership, even if it is presented by a co-author. The candidate must be present at the meeting as first author.
2. After the paper presentation, the Executive Committee can propose a candidate for membership of the Club once the following documents have been received by the Secretariat:
- the full manuscript of the presentation, ready for submission to a journal (word-file, or pdf-file if paper already published)
- a reprint of his/her two most representative papers (pdf-files)
- an updated CV and list of his/her publications (word-file)
- an updated photograph (jpg-file)
A final evaluation of the membership will be performed by the Executive Committee during the year following the paper presentation. A candidate will not be recommended to the General Assembly if two or more members of the Executive Committee disagree to accept the candidate as a member. The General Assembly will have the final vote on the proposed membership at the following congress of the Club Jules Gonin.
